The ActWrite Collective

The ActWrite Collective is where the writer’s voice meets the actor’s instrument. An exclusive, ongoing workshop at Workspace Hollywood, The ActWrite Collective is for the rare breed of artist who excels both on the page and on the stage: professional-level writers who act and actors who write. This is not a class, but a curated creative community for the complete artist.

Guided by facilitators Tessa Williams and Leif Gantvoort, the Collective provides a dedicated space for experienced creatives to hone their dual crafts alongside their true peers. Membership is by vetting only, ensuring a collaborative environment of artists with professional credits in film, television, and/or theater.

The Collective’s power lies in its unique, symbiotic structure. It operates as:
A Generative Writers' Group. Members bring new work—from first drafts to finished pieces—to be heard aloud, brought to life by the very actors who populate the room. It’s an immediate, invaluable opportunity to experience the rhythm and pulse of your writing.
A Laboratory for Actors. Simultaneously, it functions as a rigorous scene study lab, but with a vital distinction: the material is entirely original. Actors are challenged to build performances from the ground up, creating authentic, in-the-moment choices unmoored from the influence of any previous production.

As an interdisciplinary incubator for new work, The ActWright Collective is a place to take risks, support your peers, and push your creative endeavors to its highest potential.

The Collective meets every Tuesday night from 7:00-10:00 at The Theatre 68 Arts Complex in North Hollywood, beginning April 7

"My purpose is to facilitate bringing out the most personal and unfettered talent in the artists I teach. In the spirit of my mentor, the great acting and directing coach Milton Katselas, I believe that there are two elements needed for an artist to soar: love and permission. This is how I approach The Work.” - Howie Deutch
